Developing With Cascades For BlackBerry 10 - Invoking BBM Channels

Are you confused about how to invoke your BBM Channel with Cascades? Read through this tutorial and you will no longer be confused!

Welcome to the second tutorial in 'Developing With Cascades For BlackBerry 10'. In this tutorial we will be going through how to invoke your BBM Channel from within your Cascades application!

Earlier today +BlackBerry  shown you how to invoke your BBM Channel simply with an action item, you can read that post on the BlackBerry Developer Blog. Today I am going to show you how to invoke your BBM Channel from the application menu (the menu that appears when you swipe down from the top bezel on your BlackBerry 10 device).

The process is very much the same as the simple example that BlackBerry provides you with except the application menu does not support InvokeActionItem, so instead you are going to need to change the coding slightly so that you are using ActionItem instead of InvokeActionItem.

All you have to do is copy and paste this code into your application menu, if you do not know how to create an application menu then check out my last post on how to create an application menu!

That is it! Just remember to replace the 'C00xxxxxx' with your own channel pin!
